Welcome to Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club
We are a small volunteer organisation located on the Fleurieu Peninsula South Australia approximately 50 kms south of the state capital Adelaide.
We provide rescue services to our stretch of coastline and provide regular patrols on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays during the summer months as well as emergency out of hours callouts.
We also compete in State, National and International Life Saving competitions and train members from the age of 7 to 70. Our membership for 2016/17 is 258.
Our Core Values
Aldinga Bay Surf Lifesaving Club is affiliated with Surf Lifesaving Australia and its State branch here in South Australia and so follows its motto of "Vigilance and Service".
Surf Lifesaving in Australia turned 100 years old a couple of years ago and its influence has spread around the world.
ALDINGA BAY SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB DEVASTATED BY STORM DAMAGE
On Friday 9 July at around 11:00pm the ABSLSC was devastated by a storm that has been described as a ‘mini tornado’ with a large part of the roof and pergola being ripped off. The City of Onkaparinga, as owners of the building, has since closed off the club to the public and members declaring the building unsafe until further notice.
There will be significant out of pocket expenses for the Club as a result of the damage and as a not for profit organisation that is run by volunteers the Club has reached out to the community for donations through a gofundme site with a goal of raising $25,000.
Update on status of ABSLSC buildings June 2019: the Operations facility is almost at completion with the building close to being officially handed over this month.
The rebuild of the cafe/kiosk is anticipated to commence early in 2020.
Surf Life Saving Masters are eligible to compete in master's events after attaining the age of 30 years (to 70 years and over) and have attained the Bronze Medallion, proficiency, are current members. that fulfil patrol and/or other obligations to their club. Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club encourages its Masters members to participate in administrative, management and/or activities including Surf Sports, Officiating and Coaching
There are a range of ways that our senior members participate in club activities. Senior age group is from 15+ and from this age they generally undertake further training that provide the skills to be more responsible in patrolling our beaches and also continue to be actively involved in surf sports. Surf Lifesaving is a great pathway for our young lifesavers as they transition to adult hood and become more involved as volunteers in the community.
Surf Lifesaving is a great way for young children to achieve an understanding of a wide range of skills such as swimming, surf knowledge, sun safety, beach running, first aid and social interaction skills all while having fun and being active.
Please take a look at our Juniors page to learn more about how your child can become a nipper with the Aldinga Bay SLSC.
